Death in the Water Privacy Policy for iOS and iPadOS
Effective date: .
About this policy
Lighthouse Games Studio Ltd. ("we", "us", or "our") provides Death in the Water (the "Game"). This policy describes the current iPhone and iPad version, 1.0.3, and explains how information is handled when you play or contact us for support.
Information stored on your device
The Game stores settings and scores on your device, including language, graphics, audio, touch sensitivity, haptic preferences, personal-best scores, total shark kills, and statistics waiting to be submitted to Game Center. Saved statistics are associated with the Game Center player identifier available to the Game, or stored as guest statistics when you are signed out.
We do not operate a separate online player account or a studio-hosted game-statistics database for this version. Device backups may contain local Game data according to your Apple backup settings.
Game Center information
The Game attempts to connect to Apple Game Center when it starts. Apple may display its sign-in screen. When connected, the Game receives your game-specific player identifier and display name. It uses these to show your sign-in status and associate local statistics with the correct player. We do not receive your Apple Account password.
When Game Center is available, the Game submits the following information to Apple:
- Best Dive: the highest number of sharks killed in a single run.
- Total Sharks: the total number of sharks killed.
- Achievement progress: progress towards killing 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 sharks in a single run.
The Game can read your existing Game Center achievement progress to keep its submissions up to date. Your Game Center nickname, leaderboard scores, and rank may be visible to other players. Apple manages profile and activity visibility under its own service rules and your available privacy settings. Avoid using a nickname that includes information you do not want to share publicly.
Apple's handling of this information is described in its Game Center and Privacy notice.
Crash and diagnostic information
The Game can use Unity crash reporting to help us investigate crashes and improve reliability. When reporting is active, Unity may receive crash reports containing error messages, diagnostic logs, device and operating-system information, the Game version, and technical identifiers. Connections to these services also expose your IP address to the receiving service.
The current version does not use Unity Analytics or a separate gameplay analytics service. Diagnostic reporting is described in Unity's Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
App Store purchases
Downloads and purchases through the App Store are handled by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details or Apple Account password. The current iOS version does not include in-app purchases or subscriptions.
For information about Apple's handling of store account and purchase information, read its App Store and Privacy notice and Privacy Policy.
Support requests
If you contact us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include, such as your name, Game Center nickname, screenshots, a description of a problem, or diagnostic files. We use this information to respond and investigate your request. Please do not send passwords or payment card details.
How we use and share information
We use information to provide Game Center leaderboards and achievements, maintain local settings and statistics, respond to support requests, diagnose faults, improve reliability, protect our services, and meet legal obligations. Where a legal basis is required, we process information to provide requested services, for our legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable and secure Game and resolving support requests, to comply with legal obligations, or with consent where required.
Information may be handled by Apple, Unity where diagnostic reporting is active, and providers that help us respond to support requests. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
We do not sell personal information. The Game does not display third-party advertising or track you across other companies' apps and websites for advertising. The current version does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location.
Service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Their linked privacy notices explain their handling of information, including international processing. Contact us for questions about information we control and any applicable transfer safeguards. We take reasonable measures to protect information we handle, but no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices, retention, and deletion
You can play without signing in to Game Center or while offline. Local scores and settings remain available, while online leaderboard and achievement updates require a Game Center connection.
Scores earned as a guest are saved on the device and can be added to the Game Center profile you next sign into on that device. The Game can then submit those scores and achievement progress to Apple. If you share a device, check which Game Center account is signed in.
You can manage Game Center sign-in and available profile and activity-sharing controls in your device settings. Signing out does not delete scores or achievements already held by Apple. Deleting the Game removes its local app data, but does not automatically delete Game Center records or copies in device backups.
We retain support correspondence and diagnostic information we control for as long as needed to resolve requests, investigate faults and related follow-up, or meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the purpose of the information, whether it is still needed, and applicable record-keeping requirements. Apple and Unity manage information they hold according to their own retention policies.
For requests about Game Center, App Store, or backup information controlled independently by Apple, use Apple's account and privacy controls. Requests about information controlled independently by Unity should be directed to Unity. You can contact us to request access to or deletion of personal information we control.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it was withdrawn.
You may also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. We may need information to verify your request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The Game is intended for the audience indicated by its App Store age rating. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in breach of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

We will update this policy when the Game or our information practices change, update the effective date, and provide additional notice or seek consent where required by law.
