Death in the Water 2 - Privacy Policy for iOS and iPadOS
Effective date: 19 September 2026.
Lighthouse Games Studio ("we", "us", or "our") provides Death in the Water 2 (the "Game"). This policy explains how we handle personal information when you play the Game on an iPhone or iPad or contact us for support.
Information we handle
Game Center and your player profile
When you use the Game while signed in to Apple Game Center, we receive Game Center player identifiers, your nickname, and information that verifies your Game Center identity. The Game can also retrieve your Game Center avatar for display.
We use your verified Game Center identity to sign you in to Microsoft PlayFab, which provides the Game's online player profiles and statistics. A linked PlayFab player profile is created if one does not already exist. PlayFab stores a player identifier and a display name based on your Game Center nickname. We do not receive your Apple Account password through this process.
Gameplay information
The Game sends information to its online services, including scores, achievements, dive attempts and completions, training progress, and survival results such as scores and enemy kills. We use this information to maintain player statistics, recognise progress, and provide achievements and leaderboards.
Your nickname, scores, and rank may be visible to other players on leaderboards. Game Center also displays profile and activity information according to Apple's service rules and your available privacy settings. Avoid using a nickname that contains information you do not want other players to see.
Technical and usage information
Connections to online services expose your IP address to the service receiving the connection. Depending on the online service configuration, PlayFab may also receive device and software information and session information, such as when the Game is active and how long a session lasts. We use technical and usage information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Game and its online features.
Information stored on your device
The Game stores settings, saved progress, and other information needed for play on your device. Some progress and statistics are also held by the online services described above. Device backups may contain local Game data, depending on your Apple backup settings.
Support requests
If you contact us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to provide, such as your name, player nickname, a description of a problem, screenshots, or diagnostic files. We use this information to respond and investigate your request. Please do not send passwords or payment card details.
How we use and share information
We use information to provide the Game and its online features, authenticate players, maintain progress and statistics, display leaderboards, resolve support requests, improve reliability, protect our services, and meet legal obligations.
We use Microsoft PlayFab to process online player information on our behalf. Apple provides Game Center and the App Store and processes information under its own privacy terms. Relevant notices are available here:
We may also use hosting and support providers where necessary to operate these services or respond to you. We require providers processing personal information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law and to use it only for the services they provide to us.
We may disclose information when legally required, to protect people or our legal rights, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Game, subject to applicable safeguards and notice requirements.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. The Game does not display third-party advertising or track you across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes.
Purchases through the App Store are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Your choices
You can play local gameplay without signing in to Game Center. Features that depend on online identity, including online statistics and leaderboards, may be unavailable while signed out or offline.
You can manage Game Center sign-in and available profile and activity-sharing controls in your device's Game Center settings. Signing out does not delete information already stored in PlayFab or Game Center.
Deleting the Game removes its local app data from the device, but does not automatically delete online player records or copies in device backups. Apple manages its own service records and backup controls.
Retention and deletion
We retain online player information for as long as needed to provide your player profile, progress, and leaderboard features. We retain support correspondence for as long as needed to resolve requests and related follow-up. We assess retention based on the purpose of the information, whether it is still needed, and applicable legal requirements.
You can request deletion of personal information we control by contacting [email protected]. We may need information to verify that the request relates to your player profile. Deletion may remove online statistics, leaderboard entries, and other associated records. Limited information may be retained where required by law or necessary to resolve disputes or protect legal rights. Backup copies are removed through the applicable backup retention cycle.
Requests about information controlled independently by Apple should be directed to Apple.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide requested services, for legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Game and responding to support requests, to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent where required.
To exercise your rights, contact us using the details below. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
International processing and security
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use legally recognised safeguards for international transfers, such as approved contractual protections. You can contact us for information about applicable safeguards.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
The Game is intended for the audience indicated by its App Store age rating and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
External links
The Game may open our website or external community and social pages. Those services have their own privacy policies. This policy covers the Game and related support, rather than all activity on those websites.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Game or our information practices change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice or seek consent where required by law.
